I created Sapphire Car Care in January 2020 and began to focus on our branding, not only creating something memorable but also something that could change and grow with the brand.

After finally picking a name and the branding complete it was time to actually kick start Sapphire and turn it into full time and what better way then a full restoration project! I'd like to add in some back story here, just to make it clear that I didn't jump head first and complete a restoration project.

I have been Valeting/Detailing, with it switching from Part Time to Full Time around my other jobs, for the better part of 4/5 years now. I started like everyone else, an Auto Glym gift set for Christmas, this quickly expanded with the help of a good friend of mine, who handled my constant questions like a true champ! Soon my kit had 3 buckets, a mountain of microfibre cloths and products.

After the first year or so, I made the switch to using more independent brands. After looking at multiple different brands, different products and learning that there is probably a product for everything. I could have continued down the path of going to Halfords and restocking my trusty gift set, blindly following those steps and not really learning what products do, their uses and going about my detailing without a deeper understanding of what I was doing or using on my car. Now no hate to anyone who uses these brands, but coming from a brand that prides themselves on their attention to detail and their high standard of work, we have had to move ourselves away from being put into the same bracket as Valeters and Hand Car washes that use them and their level of work isn't as good as it should be.

I feel that my detailing developed massively when I made this jump, not only with my product knowledge but the way my packages are built, my time planning, knowing what works with what and being able to use that knowledge and foundation to achieve incredible results for my customers. It's helped set Sapphire Car Care standards to where they are, and set us apart from others.

Now don't get me wrong, everything hasn't been perfect. There have been times of frustration, times where I've honestly wanted to give up and valeting a car was the worst thing in the world. It's times like these where you have to take a step back, relax and get the passion back. I always say you have two choices when something goes wrong or is difficult, you either pack up and walk away, or you use it as a learning experience and do better, and that's what we do at Sapphire, we learn and we grow from all of our experiences.

I'm not going to go into too much detail with the Restoration as that's for a separate post, when lockdown started in March I was a little frustrated and disheartened that it looked like Sapphire wasn't going to have the first year that I thought it would. I made the decision to use the time to do the restoration on the DC5. This got massively out of control when we started pulling the sub frames off, taking suspension apart and repainting everything that we could. The shell was already in a fantastic condition, with only some slight surface rust starting, which made it a perfect time to have it painted. For the 6 months previous to this, I had been developing my experience with machine polishing so that I was not only comfortable with the machine, pads and compounds but had the experience before I started to offer the Paint Correction packages. From the very beginning, I do not use any products or equipment on any customers vehicles before I have used them on my own, so it was a perfect time to give the DC5 a Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating to help protect it and keep it looking immaculate.

This project took a good few months, I had the time so it made sense to take my time and get it perfect. It's become one of the best cars I've worked on and the attention to detail really shows our experience, skills and what we have to offer at Sapphire Car Care.

So fast forward to November 2020, I've been busier than I ever expected this first year to be, especially with the country being in and out of lockdown. Our unit is in the process of renovation, and our shop should be opening during the start of 2021. I've developed my skills further than I imagined this year and despite all of the ups and downs, Sapphire has been able to continue to grow throughout and I couldn't have done any of this without my fantastic customers so thank you for your continued support throughout this year!

To the brands I work with, thank you again for the continued support, I really couldn't have done this without your fantastic products and advice!

I've got a few things planned for 2021 but mostly, I hope that Sapphire can continue to grow as quickly as it has, but most importantly that we are all happy, healthy and that our lives have gone back to some kind of normality!

Thank you again to everyone who has showed Sapphire your support, from shares, bookings to following our social media accounts, it really does mean the word to us!

💙
